Secured. the Bag

Saturday, January 15th, we united with 30 volunteers in our new downtown office for our first period packaging event of 2022! Our crew of hustlers organized 25,000+ period products, including pads, tampons and liners. In less than 5 hours, we packaged and prepared 1,280 bags for distribution. Each bag contains a hand written note from one of the volunteers, period products and allll the good PPG vibes. Shoutout to Chef Celeste for catering the volunteer event and keeping us full all day long.

Period Poverty: when an individual is unable to access or obtain menstrual hygiene products such as tampons and pads.

This volunteer event was planned in correspondence with our secured. initiative, inspired by passion for ending period poverty and combating the stigma associated with menstruation. The core elements of secured. are identifying key partners, ambassadors, fundraising + products and advocacy + awareness. Secured. would not be able to flow (get it? hahaha) without our dedicated volunteers who #showup and #showout every time with hustle + heart.

All packaged products will be donated to individuals from a variety of different backgrounds who are in need. In addition to products, education about everything period related is another key part of the secured. initiative. During our volunteer events, as much as we package and dance, we also make sure to educate and spread the news about period poverty and how we can end it together.

Don’t worry if you missed this event! There is more to come, and you can donate to the initiative 24/7, 365 days a year. Download more deets here to learn more about period poverty and why this mission is important (share it with a friend). We can’t wait for the next volunteer event and hope to see both new and old faces!

xoxo,

Thank you!
