Parker Clay

While we were at Yellow Conference in LA, we had the pleasure of meeting Brittany & Carly of the brand, Parker Clay. Not only are their leather goods beautiful, this company is socially responsible and purpose-driven!  Their handmade goods help lift women out of prostitution in Ethiopia by providing jobs and education. After meeting Brittany and Carly, we knew we had to feature this amazing mission in The Shoebox!

“In the capital city of Addis Ababa, it’s estimated there are over 150,000 women in the commercial sex industry. Lacking opportunities with meaning and hope, women are easily lured into prostitution as a way of supporting themselves and their families. Having witnessed their cry to escape the sex industry, we partner with a local organization that helps women out of prostitution and provides them with opportunity elsewhere.

With each product, we partner with the non-profit Ellilta – Women at Risk to empower women in Ethiopia to realize their potential. By purchasing from Parker Clay, you join this movement. Women at Risk has been helping women in Addis Ababa for over 18 years through rehabilitation, counseling, and skills training. In nearly two decades, over 90% of the women who complete this program in Ethiopia have stayed out of the commercial sex industry.”

Now we’re sure you’re asking (if you haven’t already browsed the site), what’s the price tag for these beautiful bags?! We were surprised to find out that Parker Clay’s leather goods are reasonably priced for such quality, handmade products!

Sherin is rocking the Mimar Leather Backpack in black for $178 and Raina is showing off the Makeda Crossbody in Rust Brown for $129.
