Making the Band

Do you have a dream career? Have you ever dreamt of starting your own business? Of course you have, we all have! However, instead of putting that dream into action, most of us place our dreams on a shelf and operate from our comfort zone. Why? Our dreams seem to big & they frighten us! Our advice?

“FEEL THE FEAR, AND TAKE ACTION ANYWAY!”

 – Dima Ghawi

Often times you are not as far from living the life you want as you THINK you are. One of the first things we ask girls who want to get started in business is, “What scares you the most about making the big jump?” We’ve heard it all: I don’t have enough money; There’s so many people already doing it; What if I fail; What if no one buys my product…the list goes on! The truth of the matter is, you won’t ever have enough money, of course there are people already doing it, you will fail, and some people WON’T buy your product. Oops…that wasn’t what you were expecting to hear, were you?

Name your favorite girl boss! Sara Blakely (SPANX) , Sophia Amoruso (Girl Boss), Oprah Winfrey (The Universe, TBH)…the list goes on and on. Newsflash! They failed!  They didn’t always have money. There were already droves of women (& men!) that were doing what they dreamt of doing. Some people didn’t buy into their vision. But only a few things separate “you” from being “them” : CONSISTENCY, PERSEVERANCE, & GRIT.

The most frightening part about jumping our of a plane is the actual jump. Once you are in mid air, the views are beautiful and the journey is breathtaking. You begin to be confident and thrilled that you did something that exhilarating!

To conclude, here’s out fear-fizzling formula!  Taking the big jump starts simply but requires consistency, perseverance & grit. We encourage you, if you’re considering doing something BIG, to take out your favorite pen & notepad and write down these steps in your own handwriting. Then live by these words. Turn them into action.

FEEL THE FEAR AND DO IT ANYWAY!

STEPS TO MAKING THE BIG JUMP

  1. MAKE THE BIG JUMP

  2. FOCUS ON YOU, NOT YOUR “COMPETITION”

  3. UTILIZE THE PEOPLE IN YOUR CIRCLE AS RESOURCES

  4. BE CONSISTENT.

  5. DON’T GIVE UP. IT WILL GET TOUGH.

  6. FAIL. IT’S THE ONLY TRUE WAY TO LEARN.

  7. PICK YOURSELF BACK UP, AND FOLLOW RULE #4.

  8. TAKE TIME TO REBOOT FOR CREATIVITY
